"Dr. Wong and others at Vision One Eyecare have helped me with all my eye sight problems. Thanks to them I’ve been using Orthokeratology for over a year, and it’s my favorite choice for correcting my vision. I had previously used both glasses and soft daily-disposable contact lenses. As a busy high school student, I didn’t want to worry about my glasses breaking, getting lost, or interfering with athletics. I also didn’t want to worry about a soft contact getting stuck or out of place during the day. Ortho-k helped me solve these problems.

Because the Ortho-k lenses are worn at night I barely have to mess with them at all. Dr. Wong showed how it’s not difficult to put them in. I have no problems before I sleep and in the morning they’re easily removed. Cleaning and caring for them is also easy. I feel much more free during the day, especially during sports and swimming. It took a couple days to get used to the feeling, but the lenses didn’t hurt and most of the time I was sleeping. There are light halo rings around bright lights at night for the first couple days. Dr. Wong told me about this before I used them, and I found they went away like he said they would.

A great benefit is if you accidentally forget to wear them one night, the next day your vision will still be in good quality. If my glasses or soft contacts had a problem I would worry much more. Most of all, Ortho-k has slowed the deterioration of my vision."

Our patient GP started Ortho-K at 10 years old. She would like to share her Ortho-K lens wearing experience.

“I started Ortho-K about a year ago. One of my original problems was getting the actual lenses in! The doctor was really patient with me, and his assistants were all really kind and understanding. The one thing you absolutely MUST do is wash your hands before. I forgot to once, and I thought there was something wrong with the lens, but it was just me. In all, every one was really nice, and it made me feel better about the whole thing. I have got so much better and quicker about putting them in. I really like how you can get to know everyone. They are all so open and friendly! I hope this helped you all!”

"Before Ortho-K, I was blind as a bat. My vision worsen every year and my glasses was getting thicker. Ortho-K stopped my prescription from getting worse and have helped me stay glasses and contacts free. Since starting Ortho-K, I’m ecstatic that I don’t have to struggle with my glasses pinching my nose and contacts drying my eyes. In addition, I am able to see clearly without glasses or contact lenses when swimming . So glad to join the Ortho-K bandwagon!"

"We are so grateful to Dr Wong for introducing us to Orthokeratology (Ortho-K). My son was diagnosed with near sightedness and fitted for glasses when he was 8 years old. Given his young age, Dr Wong took a chance on him and let him try contacts when he was 9. This was wonderful for his appearance and participation in sports activities but did nothing to slow the progression of his sight degeneration over the next 5 years.

When my son was in high school Dr Wong suggested Ortho K, a process in which the patient sleeps in contacts to temporarily reshape the eye in order for him to see clearly during the day. The short term effects were almost immediate. At his first check-up after 5 days of wearing them his sight had gone from 20/250 during the day to 20/10. We were so excited. When we went to the beach, he no longer needed to worry about wearing goggles and when he left the water he could find us easily at our towels. Our only concern now was the price of the new Ray Ban sunglasses he wanted now that he didn’t need prescription ones.

The long term effect was even better. After a year, my son’s vision had not gotten any worse from the day that he started Ortho K. This was significant because he had been getting between 0.50 to 0.75 D worse each year. We were worried about how poor his vision would become by the time he was old enough for laser surgery. This is no longer a concern.

There are no downsides to Ortho-K. On the rare chance that it doesn’t work for the patient they can stop and go back to wearing regular contacts again.

"We have been using Dr. Wong services for our eye care needs since 2008, our experience has always been very positive and never have had any complaints. Most recently my 11-year old started his Ortho-K treatment with great success. Dr. Wong and his staff have been awesome, they are supportive and encouraging. My son is SO HAPPY now that he even wants to put his lenses on, take them off, clean them, etc by himself, and wants to do everything to continue with Ortho-K.
